Contraderm is an anti-trauma formula that can be used for minor skin irritations and itching due to eczema, dermatitis or professional skin revision treatments. Contraderm is frequently recommended for skins that have undergone surgical procedures or advanced skin revision.
Contraderm was designed to address hypersensitivity and contraindications from deep skin resurfacing and alkaline wash irritations. It contains a gentle retinoid, the steroid-like action of licorice, and nutrient-rich botanicals from grapeseed, olive, soybean, sweet almond, and sunflower oils.
3-0-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid
Water- and oil-soluble ethyl ascorbic acid provides all the benefits of vitamin C in a more stable form. It is an antioxidant, brightens the skin and inhibits tyrosinase, boosts collagen synthesis, increases fibroblast proliferation, supports wound healing, reduces inflammation, helps ‘recycle’ vitamin E, smooths rough texture, decreases photodamage, and diminishes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Glycine Soja Oil (Soybean)
Soybean oil contains antioxidants, linoleic acid, oleic acid, vitamin E, and vitamin K. This ingredient reduces TEWL, helps restore the skin barrier, nourishes the skin, is photoprotective, and neutralizes free radicals.
Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil (Sunflower)
Sunflower seed oil has many beneficial wound healing and skin-nourishing properties. Itis a lightweight oil rich in fatty acids, plant sterols, vitamin E, minerals, and squalene. These concentrations are anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, photoprotective, and restorative for elastin and the skin barrier.
Lecithin
A phospholipid that creates emulsion in a formula. It is emollient and binds water, which helps reduce dryness and improve skin suppleness. Lecithin is made from choline-rich soybean oil, a vital nutrient in cell membranes.
Glycyrrhiza Uralensis Root Extract (Licorice)
Licorice is a cooling skin conditioner that calms irritation and redness. It is a natural extraction containing flavonoids that inhibit inflammation, lighten pigmentation, and counteract oxidative stress. Licorice also improves hydration, suppleness, and turgidity by preserving the skin's hyaluronic acid content.
Olea Europaea Fruit Oil (Olive)
Olive oil contains a high concentration of oleic acid, a bioadaptable™ permeation enhancer. This oil is powerfully dynamic and provides the skin with vitamin A, vitamin E, antioxidants, and polyphenol oleuropein, a powerful micronutrient and free radical scavenger. Topical olive oil application improves wound healing by reducing inflammation and oxidative damage.
Vitis Vinifera Seed Extract (Grapeseed)
A nutrient and flavonoid-rich extract that increases elasticity, moisture levels, and suppleness. This oil contains concentrated linoleic acid, which contributes to cell membranes and cellular signaling. Grapeseed has superior anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial benefits, vitamin E, and oligomeric proanthocyanins, potent antioxidants. OPCs protect against DNA damage, lipid peroxidation, block elastase, and scavenge free radicals.
Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis Oil (Sweet Almond)
A vitamin E-rich oil that is emollient and skin conditioning. Almond oil has triglycerides and fatty acids that replenish and reduce the appearance of scars and photoaging. Antioxidant and photoprotective, this oil can also soften, smooth, and rejuvenate skin. It is occlusive and has been used since ancient times to treat psoriasis, eczema, and dry skin conditions.
Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E)
The most bioadaptable™ form of vitamin E and a powerful antioxidant. Tocopheryl acetate strengthens the skin’s barrier function, protects the skin barrier-lipid balance, and reduces TEWL. Itis also softening, anti-inflammatory, and photoprotective, preventing keratinocyte “sunburn cell” formation and lipid peroxidation after UV exposure.
Allantoin
Naturally found in the body, allantoin is mildly keratolytic (breaks down keratin) and encourages desquamation and cell regeneration. Allantoin locks moisture into the extracellular matrix, accelerates healing, and reduces hypersensitivity, making it ideal for distressed skin. It is found in plants like chamomile and treats dry skin, burns, acne, eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, and allergies. It also absorbs the UV spectrum, protecting cell DNA.
Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract
An antioxidant that hydrates, soothes, and conditions the skin while regenerating tissue. It is photoprotective, stimulates the immune system, and boosts collagen synthesis; aloe also contains antiviral properties, antiseptic saponins, and anti-inflammatory enzymes. Itis incredibly nutrient-rich with 75 active compounds, including vitamins A, C, E, B12, folic acid, potassium, fatty acids, and more.
Hydroxypinacolone Retinoate
A newer retinoid that provides increased retinoic activity without the potential irritations of traditional vitamin A ingredients. It binds directly to the cell receptors without needing to be metabolically broken down or converted before use.
Caprooyl Tetrapeptide-3
A peptide that stimulates the production and synthesis of laminin-5, fibronectin, and collagen, creating supportive structures, stronger connections, and better adhesions, both between cells and at the dermoepidermal junction (DEJ). It reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, rejuvenates, firms, and smooths the skin.
- After cleansing, apply an ample amount of Contraderm to the affected area.
- Lightly press into the skin until absorbed. Reapply multiple times a day as needed.
Contraderm is for short-term use after ablative treatments and during the acute phase of rashes or hypersensitive reactions. It can also be prescribed to kickstart a home care program for clients that have compromised, hyper-reactive, and inflamed skin.
